Muttzanita 2009 a Huge Success!

Wow! I am not sure where to begin. It is three days after Muttzanita and I am still smiling. It was a fantastic event and there is not enough space to thank everyone who helped make this event such a success. The support from the business community, volunteers, and the city of Manzanita was just spectacular and is a perfect example of how we can all work together to make a difference. Thanks to the hard work of everyone, we were able to raise nearly $5000 for United Paws and the North Tillamook County Rotary Club in their support of the Rinehart Clinic’s Well-Child Program. With this money, United Paws will be able to reach their goal of one thousand spay and neuter surgeries this year and the Rinehart Clinic will be able to help almost two hundred children be examined by a physician and immunized.

The support from the business community was overwhelming. We had so many donations that we were able to have some super raffle prizes as well as a hugely successful silent auction. I want to especially thank our event sponsors: US Bank, Manzanita Grocery & Deli, Manzanita Golf Course, Bank of Astoria, Howell’s Floor Covering, TLC Federal Credit Union and Manzanita Bikes and Boards. We had gift certificates and product donations from nearly every business in the area.

Without the volunteers, this event could not have taken place. So many people from the area came and helped to make this a wonderful day for pets and their people. Many of the volunteers spent the entire day helping out. We had over forty volunteers who had a great time and made this event possible. Thank you everyone!

Doggie Musical Chairs at 12pm on the beach

You’ve probably all done musical chairs as a kid, now you can do it with your pooch. Entrants will form a large ring walking with your dog in a circle. When the music stops, the last dog to sit is eliminated until we crown our champion.

As with all of our events, all entrants will receive an entry for our event prize drawing.

ChuckIt Toss at 11am on the beach

You see them on the beach, you see them in the park, now see how you and your pooch stack up in our ChuckIt Toss.


Using those arm-saving ChuckIt ball launchers, have your dog fetch the ball and bring it back to you. The fastest dogs will win a medal.


Everyone who enters will get an entry for our event raffle to win some fabulous prizes. So, if your dog is the road runner or takes a more leisurely pace, you can have fun and have a chance at one of our great prizes.

Pet Parade Kicks off Muttzanita

Strike up the band and strut your stuff from Four Paws on the Beach to the beach to kick off the Muttzanita Festival. The Pet Parade will start at the registration area and go to the beach.

Decorate your pooch, bring a kazoo, or just join us in getting our festival off to a rousing start.
